When we started work on the new album, we set the brief of "Keep it Simple"
So for this song, Rob Walker has recorded seven lines of keyboards and Edward Grassby has recorded five lines of additional backing vocal

Oh fuck not this again...t'north's very own Steely Dan rides again 😂
Not going for the no-nonsense, balls-to-the-wall approach with this one then, Edward Grassby?

Drums and bass are all recorded. Go rhythm section!!!!!
Ludwig Von Walker is creating strings, pianos and keyboard soundscapes the likes of which you wouldn't believe. They're taking these songs to another level.
We've got one song developing that will bring a tear to all but the sternest of eyes.
Something quite magical is coming together.

Looking forward to hearing it! Still no medley of rock n’ roll ‘standards’ though Edward Grassby?
Rhombus have played at this fantastic venue many, many times.
With your support we and many other fantastic bands will be able to do so again.AN OPEN LETTER TO YOU, THE CUSTOMERS ❤️ PLEASE READ. DONATE -https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/savetheparish
First of all thanks, thanking you for donating over 12k to keep the parish going! That’s frikkin amazing and makes us all feel very squishy inside. It really has been pretty eye opening and massively pleasing to see how much people love what we’ve done at the parish: we have always tried our best to be the best we can and the fact that you lot have confirmed we are on the right path makes us so happy. So thankkkkk you x
I just wanted to update you on how we are getting on, and just reaffirm how important this funder is to our survival. Enterprise inns (our landlord) are still charging us rent, full rent, whilst we have been forced to close. This amounts to more money than we can afford, more money than we can claim in government grants (which is £0), and more money than, in my opinion, they have the right to expect from us.
£25000 would cover this & keep us alive, if we can hit our target we will know, that we will likely survive (if this doesn’t go on for too long!) . We will do everything we can to pay you guys back, I can promise, cross my heart & hope to die, that everyone involved in what we do will be working towards making the parish the best thing it can ever be. And we will do it.
We are talking to everyone, we are leaving no crack unexplored in our efforts to make this work without your help, and if we succeed without your help, your help would still make a massive difference, it would allow us to carry out works we’ve been wanting to do for years. We will make it safe to have a wee, we will endeavour to remove the graffiti from the tables for more than 3 days, we will correct all the grammar from the graffiti, we will make our beer garden the land of all that is comfort and relaxation. Whatever happens, I want you to know that we are doing the best we can to keep Parish alive. We are biased, but we believe we are important to what comes from this.
Love, The Parish x

It's April 2020. The UK is in the middle of a government-imposed lockdown. That didn't stop the members of Rhombus having fun, being creative and taking the piss.
The band took a break from recording their new album to revisit a favourite from 2010 - Anywhere, The Lockdown Version.

Brilliant! And even found one of the countries bog roll hoarders in the process! 😎
That was fun!
To brighten your day, the team in Rhombus Land has been very busy revisiting one of our most enduing songs from 2010 and revamping it for 2020. Anywhere recorded Anywhere

It seems that you have a new band fellow?
Bit of flightcase archeology from a similar ancient period...
Yes, great !!👏👏☻
So last year when we made our plan for the first half of 2020, deciding not to gig and to try and record our new album remotely sounded more than a little questionable.
Now in April, our plan of choice has become necessity. Leading us slightly smug to find ourselves in rhythm for once.
The timescale for releasing on July 4th still stands and we still hope to launch at Carpe Noctum.
The team around the band is now assembling (remotely) and we're actually quite excited about the album that is starting to take shape. It's going to be good, trust us.
Pre-order will be launching soon.
Lots of love to you and your's

So you've unleashed a global pandemic just to make your album release schedule more feasible? Nice one, world's crying now 😒

Looking forward to hearing it.

For once, we've not been idle in Rhombusland.
Songwriting is now progressing well. As of last night we have six songs pretty much done. Three have already been played live, the others have come together over the last month.
We've also got a sound-cloud account full of riffs, ditties and tunes from last year's "Slacker sessions" that Rob and Lee are going to start sifting through to determine the wheat from the chaff.
Fingers crossed the new album will be ready in 2020

So long in fact Rob Walker was worried the internal battery on his effects unit may have run down.

Rhombus six string bluffer Andy Holmes has today agreed to endorse the new Encore Widow Maker VI, which is shaped like an assault rifle.
"Andy was our first choice!" said the noted budget range luthiers "It sounds like a massacre when he plays a normal shaped guitar, so this a logical next step"
When asked about possible negative connotations of endorsing a gun shaped guitar, Andy asked for clarification of what 'connotations' mean't before making a joke that offended even the unborn!

We tried that last night in Andy’s other band, my guitar amp was off for 3 songs and just had Andy playing. I think it was an improvement, but no-one will know just how good i was playing on those songs, i was playing a blinder 😂😂
You only want me when you’re drunk.
Requests??? How about switch Rob's guitar down and Andy's up. (that's a fiver Andy know owes me 🙂 )
i think Lee would love you to do Mother by Danzig......id like Almost Everything 🙂
Rehearsing last night, we started by playing one of the new songs which had sounded pretty good last week.
The first run sounded dreadful, we looked in the direction of Andy Holmes, for an explanation, who rattled off some excuse about his amp cutting in and out. Rob Walker questioned whether the problem was the performance, rather than the amp it was coming through. A claim rebutted swiftly by Mr Holmes.
Further examination by Lee Talbot found Andy was in fact note perfect, but had being playing the other new song.
So to misquote Eric Morcambe, Andy was playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right song! ... See MoreSee Less
