Edward Grassby did you put a banging donk on it?
COMPETITION WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT!!
What a journey it's been! Highs, lows etc
..and the winners are...
**Crushed, sloppy drum roll with inconsistent dynamics....**
Winners please message us with your address so we can send your lovely loot. Or wait until the next gig which should hopefully ensure you attend and save us a bob or two on postage.
For transparency below are my judging criteria. I've not included the weighting as it's a commercially sensitive algorithm.
a) Current affairs
b) Band knowledge
Additional factors: Locality. Can winner come and collect the prize to save the cost of a 2nd class stamp?
Cries of cronyism be damned! 23 out of an available 27.3 points
A lot of words. It might not actually be the most from all the entries but is certainly up there from a quick eyeballing, I'm not a nerd so I've not counted them (1a)
Spelling looks alright to me but I'm no Samuel Johnson (1b)
Hasn't overtly mentioned the pandemic, but has referred to it with use of song titles (2a, 3b)
Brought back fond memories of Alistair (2b)
Elegantly shoehorned in some song titles (3a, 3b)
Scored very high on what is frankly the most important metric: is local
46 from 72 available points. I changed the algorithm at this point, but couldn't be bothered re-scoring everything
Most characters used. I actually did count them: 325 vs 308 (1a)
Good spelling but I don't like that space before the full stop (1b)
Begging and threats of withdrawal of support (3b)
45.9 from 72 just missing out on 2nd place (fortunately for Archie this has no bearing on anything)
All over the place and tested the algorithm to it's limits this one
Photographic evidence of a good collection of band releases (2b, 3b), but in contrast has also managed to let himself down on the Band Knowledge (3b) metric. I don't know Archie, are you missing anything? I like that contradiction however and wouldn't be able to use this gag if he didn't win (2b)
It's only a short post (1b) so minimal chance of slipping up but managed to miss off the question mark (1b)
20 from 27.3 points. Changed it back
Devaluing the inherent worth of the prize (2b, 3a, 3b)
Being the last winner allowing me to trail off and not bother typing too much (2b)
Harry Dagger for a typically random and funny entry (2a, 3a)
Adrian Nicklin made me feel sad about lockdown (2b). Not a positive thing but it's still much needed stimulation
Nico Sadbast Goffe for using a hashtag. Not really sure how they work, but it seems modern and cool to me (2b, 3a)
Jennifer Heatley Roche, Alistair Kelly for the same reason as Graham's winning entry, but not quite as funny (2b, 3a)
Marcus Bretschneider for invoking Rob's name. Unfortunately no one cares what Rob thinks (3b)
Julian Marc Manley for invoking my name (3b)
Malcolm Smith for offering a bribe (3b)
Lesley Eriksen for mentioning the band name with one of those nice love heart for eyes emojis (3b)
Lee Whizzkid for making my ocd kick in thinking about an incomplete collection (2b). As with Archie though, you "think" it's the only one you don't have? (3b)
Tom Vaughan and Gregory Wright for self confidence (2b)
Kell Kill for being the only person who posted twice and because I've done so many honourable mentions that I feel I now have to include everyone that had a go (even if they made no sense whatsoever) (3a??)
Watch this space for more competitions should anyone in the band ever tidy their house again. ... See MoreSee Less
Oh wow, first time I have won a comp "Anywhere" on the book of faces, made a full year ever so slighly more loveable, love is the answer?
Too long, didn't read.
Whilst tidying up we found 3 copies of the long sold out Anywhere EP together with a limited edition Monked Up The Sky.
So, we're giving them away. If you want one, tell us why you should have it. (Flattery, threats, sob story, insults, blackmail, it's up to you)
Lee will judge the winners and your prize will be posted free of charge, worldwide. ... See MoreSee Less
I think I should get a copy because... I really really like Teddy's taste in titfers, and that isn't easy to say, even now I've had to give up alcohol!! I'd like to change my answer, my new answer is... Because I've had to give up alcohol!!! And chocolate!! 😎
I should have a copy because....well...do you not know who I am? A man in my position having to beg! 😳 😉 x
i should have a copy because ........ its looking like the only place we will be going for quite a while is "nowhere" it will give me hope that sooner or later we will be able to go "anywhere"! also it was Alistaires favourite song and i have fond memories of him front and center dancing along ....ta muchly
If you send me a copy I'll buy the whole band a round of drinks at the next gig I can get to (that might be 2029 at the current rate) 🙂
I should have them .. as I don't have a copy of either .. and if you don't send them to me I'll stop coming to your gigs and buying anymore of your stuff .(I won't really because you're too good to miss but just pretend that i will) ... Ok Ok just send it to me .. I'm begging now incase the threats above don't work 🤣🤣
I need this album for my old school collection! I love Rhombus! 😍
I should have a copy because I'm in lockdown living alone and in need of some new listening entertainment 😉
Because I"m Worth It.
Because "Monked up the sky" is missing in my collection. And Herr Rob Walker likes me 😛
I think I should have one because it’s my fault that he ended up being a drummer!
Ok this is my Rhombus cd collection is there anything missing
I already have Anywhere but Monked Up The Sky is the nearest karma will ever get to #NastyNigel
I could do with another coaster.
I'm running out of beer mats?
hey, this second I don't know 🤔
I have a slightly wobbly table.
i should have monked up the sky simply because i think its the only one i dont have
Merry Christmas 🎄🎉🍻

Album Update – Magnificent Single Release
You know how Rhombus feel about deadlines, right? You know we’ve never released an album on time, right? (Though we did release an EP on schedule once)
Love Is The Answer is currently being mixed by Doctor Michael Uwins (The MixMaster). It’s sounding fab, The Doc is putting together some stunning mixes. Really top notch. We think this is going to be our best ever release and we want Mike to have the time to do it justice.
Therefore, on December 7th we’re going to release Magnificent as a single. It will be issued digitally as the first of three single leading up to the release of the full album in March 2021.
Alixandrea Corvyn will be premiering Magnificent this Saturday at her online club night Sacrilege. Magnificent will then pop up on various playlists and shows in the run up to December 7th (Drop us a message if you want to give it a spin)
Thanks to everyone who has pre-ordered the album so far. We guarantee it will be more than worth the wait.

If there's a fan vote. More dual vocals. And yes you need recruit another guitarist. So dual everything, maybe ? Seriously, love the way that Ed and Alix vocals work together.
Time for dual bassists godammit! 🙂
As you probably know, we here at Rhombus consider ourselves World Citizens. So we're debuting an exclusive mix of one of the songs from the new album on Brazilian Radio (Bom!)

Due to schedules, busy workloads and that complicated little thing called 'life', Andy Holmes will be leaving Rhombus.
During his tenure with the band, Andy played 31 different guitars, wore just one hat and kept everyone entertained, as only he could, with his unique sense of humour. (The petrol pump prank, was always a non starter though)
Rob, Alix, Lee and Ed would like to thank Andy for the big contribution he made to Rhombus over the last five years and wish him and his lovely family all the best for the future.

Great stuff babe 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Suddenly I recall those safe sex full body condoms...
How’s the medley of rock n’ roll standards coming along?
Sounds great 🙂
Keep us updated sounds great 👍
I think that among all your fans I am the most anxious for the release of your new album, I even gained a few kilograms 😂😂
The more astute amongst you may have guessed that we won't be releasing our album on 4th July anymore.
Since the gigs were canned, we throttled back a little, but the album is now progressing nicely and the extra time is being put to good use. It's going to be a better record for the delay. We've been able to ring the changes and we hope to deliver something sharper and brighter!!!
The photo was taken by Jonathan 'J' Cridford at our last gig, back on December 27th at The Fulford Arms.
If we're honest, nobody knows for certain when gigs will return, especially not the doom mongers or phantom meme sharers!
We always remain optimistic and as soon as the local venues want us, just like James Bond... Rhombus will return.

When we started work on the new album, we set the brief of "Keep it Simple"
So for this song, Rob Walker has recorded seven lines of keyboards and Edward Grassby has recorded five lines of additional backing vocal

Not going for the no-nonsense, balls-to-the-wall approach with this one then, Edward Grassby?
Oh fuck not this again...t'north's very own Steely Dan rides again 😂
Drums and bass are all recorded. Go rhythm section!!!!!
Ludwig Von Walker is creating strings, pianos and keyboard soundscapes the likes of which you wouldn't believe. They're taking these songs to another level.
We've got one song developing that will bring a tear to all but the sternest of eyes.
Something quite magical is coming together.

Looking forward to hearing it! Still no medley of rock n’ roll ‘standards’ though Edward Grassby?
Rhombus have played at this fantastic venue many, many times.
With your support we and many other fantastic bands will be able to do so again.AN OPEN LETTER TO YOU, THE CUSTOMERS ❤️ PLEASE READ. DONATE -https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/savetheparish
First of all thanks, thanking you for donating over 12k to keep the parish going! That’s frikkin amazing and makes us all feel very squishy inside. It really has been pretty eye opening and massively pleasing to see how much people love what we’ve done at the parish: we have always tried our best to be the best we can and the fact that you lot have confirmed we are on the right path makes us so happy. So thankkkkk you x
I just wanted to update you on how we are getting on, and just reaffirm how important this funder is to our survival. Enterprise inns (our landlord) are still charging us rent, full rent, whilst we have been forced to close. This amounts to more money than we can afford, more money than we can claim in government grants (which is £0), and more money than, in my opinion, they have the right to expect from us.
£25000 would cover this & keep us alive, if we can hit our target we will know, that we will likely survive (if this doesn’t go on for too long!) . We will do everything we can to pay you guys back, I can promise, cross my heart & hope to die, that everyone involved in what we do will be working towards making the parish the best thing it can ever be. And we will do it.
We are talking to everyone, we are leaving no crack unexplored in our efforts to make this work without your help, and if we succeed without your help, your help would still make a massive difference, it would allow us to carry out works we’ve been wanting to do for years. We will make it safe to have a wee, we will endeavour to remove the graffiti from the tables for more than 3 days, we will correct all the grammar from the graffiti, we will make our beer garden the land of all that is comfort and relaxation. Whatever happens, I want you to know that we are doing the best we can to keep Parish alive. We are biased, but we believe we are important to what comes from this.
Love, The Parish x

It's April 2020. The UK is in the middle of a government-imposed lockdown. That didn't stop the members of Rhombus having fun, being creative and taking the piss.
The band took a break from recording their new album to revisit a favourite from 2010 - Anywhere, The Lockdown Version.

Brilliant! And even found one of the countries bog roll hoarders in the process! 😎
That was fun!
To brighten your day, the team in Rhombus Land has been very busy revisiting one of our most enduing songs from 2010 and revamping it for 2020. Anywhere recorded Anywhere
Keep strong, keep happy, look after each other and try not to spend too much time moaning about other people's behaviour!
Love is the answer.
Thanks to Maria Delg for putting the video together, Lee Talbot for mixing and The Backstreet Boys for the idea ... See MoreSee Less
This was amazing, thank you! Nice to finally hear Alixandrea on vocals too... I haven't been able to get to a gig since she joined!
Great work, look forward to seeing again, somewhere, anywhere when this is all over 🙂
Let’s hope the lock down ends before the album launch !!!
Love it , good place to stash the bog roll and pasta
This is so great! 😀
The best track i habe ever heared, my fave, thank you 👏👏👏🖤🤗💎
Superb version! It's been far to long since my last Rhombus gig. I need to put that right.
YES!!!!! I LOVE IT!!
Just what I needed in these mad times!
It’s been awhile since I caught up.. ‘Never mind the penguins.....’! Love it.
blinking heck rob!! you own the andrex company? lol
It seems that you have a new band fellow?
Bit of flightcase archeology from a similar ancient period...
Yes, great !!👏👏☻
So last year when we made our plan for the first half of 2020, deciding not to gig and to try and record our new album remotely sounded more than a little questionable.
Now in April, our plan of choice has become necessity. Leading us slightly smug to find ourselves in rhythm for once.
The timescale for releasing on July 4th still stands and we still hope to launch at Carpe Noctum.
The team around the band is now assembling (remotely) and we're actually quite excited about the album that is starting to take shape. It's going to be good, trust us.
Pre-order will be launching soon.
Lots of love to you and your's
